MCS-PD

OVERVIEW

The MCS-PD disposable pudendal electrode (known as the St. Mark's electrode) is designed for delivering stimulating electrical impulses to the pudendal nerve and for recording electromyographic activity of the pelvic floor muscles and the anal sphincter.

The electrodes are recommended for use in examinations of pudendal nerve conduction disorders based on the response of the pelvic floor muscles and anal sphincter, as well as for assessing delayed motor function or dysfunction.

The electrode is placed on the index finger of an examination glove and introduced into contact with the pelvic floor muscles. After a stimulating signal is delivered through the first pair of contacts, the electromyographic response of the muscles is recorded from the second pair.

The electrodes are manufactured sterile and are available in three variants corresponding to different sizes of examination gloves.

A dedicated reusable lead cable is used to connect the electrode to the stimulation and EMG recording device. The lead cable is available in several models depending on the type of connector used by the device.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Step 1. Remove the electrode from its packaging. Verify that the selected electrode corresponds to the nominal
size of the glove being used.
It is necessary to use high-strength gloves.
The electrode must be installed only on a glove that is worn on the hand.

Step 2. Remove the protective liner from the electrode's adhesive layer.

Step 3. Position the electrode along the index finger.
1 - The cable ribbon should pass through the middle of the palm.
2 - The contact (stimulating) surfaces of the electrode must be placed on the distal (nail) phalanx of the finger.
3 - The current-collecting (recording) surfaces on the proximal (main) phalanx (closer to the palm). The
contact pads must not be placed over the finger joint flexion point.

Step 4. Secure the stimulating contacts.

Step 5. Secure the recording contacts.

Step 6. Check that the electrode is firmly attached to the glove.

Step 7. Loosely secure the lead cable on the wrist using a bracelet or adhesive tape.

Step 8. Connect the reusable lead cable to the electrode connector.

Step 9. Connect the lead cable to the corresponding connectors on the stimulation and EMG recording device.
